Sometimes when we write an important and complex document we have to make more than two backup copies of the same file but we save them in a different folder with a similar name. So, when we try to open the last version we don't know which file is the last one. Or maybe we are looking for the last changes we have made, and it is very complicated to find them among all the lines inside the document. For those and more reasons "Code Compare" is an excellent option that will help you to simplify your search. You just have to select both files you wish to compare and "Code Compare" will make the rest. You can compare files or folders. The options I liked the most is that you can select a fast, medium or accurate search for text, source code and XML files. Also you can add a context menu to the Windows Explorer (Vista and non Administrator users might need to generate a registry script to install the Code Compare Context Menu to Windows Explorer). You can view the entire document, just the differences between them or only the summary of the lines that match or don't match.
